We trade cash for friends…

Live close to people you like! Inviting your friends to live in the bel Niche is always the best way to make the estate feel like a homey and invigorating place… We’ll even pay you to get them in here!

Call it shameless, call it packet change. Either way, we’ll send L$500 your way for each new neighbor you convince to move into the bel Niche estate. Simply send us an IM including the name of the friend who recently purchased a plot and payed their rental rock. After recieving an identical IM from the friend, we’ll send the money your way. Simple and clean.

Any questions? As always, feel free to IM Lefty Belvedere anytime about anything.

bel Niche: Public Spaces

The Autumn season here in the Northern Hemisphere is the perfect time to refresh the topic of public space in the Belvedere Estates as colder weather brings a new flood of neighbors.

Our estates are setup in a fashion which allows for small spaces to exist in-between plots. Having this “greenspace” between you and your neighbor is a luxury that everyone should enjoy in their virtual lives. Not only do they serve as little buffers for personal space, they also present miniature opportunities for decorating and designing for those so inclined.

As resident, you are completely free to add trees, flowers, and all sorts of appropriate props and decorations which you feel will look great between your neighbor’s plot and your own. Think of these little strips of land as a chance to invest in the community and perhaps get to know your neighbors.

Our estates are planned around an object (”prim”) system with prims set aside for residents to use as they wish. In short: The objects that you place into the greenspaces around your plot will be free of charge and almost always without limits. If it looks nice and isn’t too prim-heavy (in the hundreds) we are happy to accommodate your creations on public land!

As you take advantage of this idea of sharing spaces with neighbors, you will begin to notice that you feel comfortable hanging out in these public spaces and might find yourself mingling with like-minded people. If bumping into new people happens at your own leisure and perhaps when you least expect you might find yourself enjoying your time here… isn’t that what the metaverse is all about?

All too often, the metaverse fragments itself into one of two extremes. A resident can sometimes feel lost in space and surrounded by empty landscape devoid of life. This is usually the case when estates or mainland is parceled too largely. The opposite is true of space that is parceled too tightly and without regard to the lay of the land. In either case, who your nice neighbors will always seem to be in the way.

Hopefully, by maintaining our greenspaces in a community effort, we will avoid this. After all, your time spent in a virtual world should be a few degrees better than your time in the real world.
